Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were designed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Many companies now also use the choice of home-based systems that work over a mobile network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button permits you to talk to a dispatcher through a base unit located in your house.

Numerous businesses use mobile choices, too. You can use these systems in the house, however they’ll also allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and integrate GPS technology. By doing this, if you get lost or push the call button for assistance, but are unable to talk, the monitoring service can find you.

  • Should You Add a Fall-Detection Function?

Some businesses offer the choice of automatic fall detection, for an extra regular monthly charge. Producers say these devices pick up falls when they happen and instantly contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pressed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?

Look for a business with no additional charges related to devices, shipping, setup, activation, or service and repair. Don’t fall for rip-offs that provide complimentary service or “donated or utilized” devices.
Contracts. You should not need to participate in a long-lasting contract. You should just need to pay ongoing regular monthly charges, which must range in between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Take care about paying for service beforehand, considering that you never ever understand when you’ll have to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or permanently.
Assurance and cancellation policies. Look for a complete money-back warranty, or a minimum of a trial duration, in case you are not satisfied with the service. And you’ll desire the ability to cancel at any time with no charges (and a full refund if monthly costs have already been paid).
Discounts. Ask about discounts for several individuals in the exact same family, along with for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance coverage or by means of a medical facility, medical or care company. Ask if the business uses any discount rates options or a sliding charge scale for people with lower earnings.
Insurance. For the a lot of part, Medicare and personal insurance provider will not cover the costs of a medical alert. In some States, Medicaid might cover all or part of the expense. You can contact your personal insurance company to see if it offers discounts or recommendations.
Tax reductions. Talk to your tax expert to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically needed expense.

Argyle is an affluent city in Denton County, Texas, United States, with a population of 5,503 as of 2022.[4] It is a suburb of Fort Worth.

The first European settlement, consisting of a few families, occurred in the Argyle area in the 1850s. The place was then known as Pilot Knob or Waintown. The settlement gradually acquired a few amenities in the late 1800s: a school in 1875, a Baptist church in 1876, and a post office in 1878. The community was formally founded and renamed Argyle in 1881, after the Texas and Pacific railroad built a track through the area. Some believe a railroad surveyor named the town after a garden in France. However, others believe the town to be named after the region of Argyll in Scotland. Also around this time was when Sam Bass, an infamous outlaw who stole $60,000 in gold coins from the Union Pacific Railroad, was rumored to have stashed the gold in a cave. Sam Bass died when he was 27, and it was rumored he never lived to retrieve the gold.
