Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were created to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Lots of companies now also use the option of home-based systems that work over a mobile network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button permits you to talk to a dispatcher through a base unit situated in your house.

However, numerous companies use mobile choices, too. You can utilize these systems at home, however they’ll also permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and incorporate GPS technology. This way, if you get lost or push the call button for aid, but are unable to talk, the tracking service can find you.

  • Should You Add a Fall-Detection Feature?
  • Some businesses offer the alternative of automated fall detection, for an additional monthly fee. Makers say these devices pick up falls when they occur and automatically call the dispatch center, simply as they would if you had pushed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?
  • Charges. Be careful of complex pricing plans and concealed costs. Try to find a company with no extra charges connected to equipment, shipping, setup, activation, or service and repair. Don’t fall for frauds that offer free service or “donated or used” equipment.
You must just have to pay ongoing regular monthly charges, which should range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be cautious about paying for service in advance, since you never ever understand when you’ll need to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for circumstances) or completely.
Assurance and cancellation policies. Try to find a complete money-back warranty, or at least a trial period, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll want the capability to cancel at any time without any penalties (and a complete refund if month-to-month fees have currently been paid).
Discount rates. Ask about discounts for multiple people in the same family, as well as for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance or by means of a healthcare facility, medical or care organization. Ask if the company offers any discount alternatives or a moving charge scale for people with lower incomes.
Insurance. For the most part, Medicare and private insurance provider will not cover the costs of a medical alert. In some States, Medicaid may cover all or part of the expense. You can contact your private insurer to see if it offers discounts or referrals.
Tax deductions. Consult your tax accountant to discover if the expense of a medical alert is tax deductible as a medically necessary cost.

Copeville is an unincorporated community in southeastern Collin County, Texas, United States, along State Highway 78 near the east shore of Lavon Lake.

Copeville was named for John Miles Cope (5 Jan 1827 – 14 Jul 1902),[2][3] one of the earliest settlers to arrive in the area. Along with his father and brother he organized the community in the 1850s. In 1886 it moved about a mile east from its original location to its current site after the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway[4] was built through the area.[5]

The population of Copeville may have reached 300 in 1915. The population estimate had fallen to 240 in 1926. It remained at that number throughout the 1920s and 1930s due to the Great Depression, mechanization of farming, and job opportunities offered in the Dallas metropolitan area. In 1943 a further decline to 150 was reported. Until the early 1970s that estimate remained constant. The town had two churches, five businesses, and a school in 1947. Copeville had 106 residents and seven businesses in 1986 and 1990. In 2000 that number remained unchanged.[5]
