Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were created to work inside your house, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Many businesses now also use the option of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button enables you to talk to a dispatcher through a base unit situated in your home.

Numerous companies use mobile options, too. You can use these systems in the house, but they’ll also allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and incorporate GPS technology. This way, if you get lost or press the call button for help, but are not able to talk, the tracking service can locate you.

  • Should You Add a Fall-Detection Feature?
  • Some companies provide the alternative of automated fall detection, for an extra monthly cost. Producers say these devices notice falls when they take place and automatically get in touch with the dispatch center, simply as they would if you had actually pushed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?
  • Costs. Beware of complicated price strategies and surprise fees. Look for a business with no additional fees related to equipment, shipping, setup, activation, or service and repair. Do not fall for rip-offs that provide complimentary service or “donated or used” equipment.

Guarantee and cancellation policies. Try to find a complete money-back assurance, or a minimum of a trial period, in case you are not satisfied with the service. And you’ll desire the ability to cancel at any time with no charges (and a full refund if monthly charges have already been paid).
Discount rates. Ask about discount rates for numerous people in the exact same household, along with for veterans, membership companies, medical insurance or through a healthcare facility, medical or care company. Ask if the company uses any discount alternatives or a sliding fee scale for individuals with lower earnings.
Insurance coverage. For the many part, Medicare and personal insurance companies will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. In some States, Medicaid might cover all or part of the expense. You can talk to your personal insurance provider to see if it uses discounts or referrals.
Tax reductions. Consult your tax professional to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically necessary cost.

After the turn of the new century, James Mark Cannon (born circa 1967) relocated from Portland, Oregon, to purchase the abandoned school building and to turn it into a seven-day restaurant known as "Eola School Restaurant". Cannon's experience was featured on Bob Phillips' Texas Country Reporter syndicated television program in March 2007.
