Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ
-
- Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?
Originally, medical alert systems were created to work inside your house, with your landline telephone.
And you can still go that route. Numerous businesses now also provide the option of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.
With these systems, pressing the wearable call button allows you to speak with a dispatcher through a base system located in your house.
Many companies use mobile alternatives, too. You can use these systems at home, but they’ll also allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.
These run over cellular networks and include GPS technology. By doing this, if you get lost or push the call button for help, but are not able to talk, the monitoring service can locate you.
Some companies provide the choice of automated fall detection, for an additional month-to-month fee. Producers say these devices pick up falls when they happen and automatically get in touch with the dispatch center, simply as they would if you had pressed the call button.
Look for a company with no additional costs related to equipment, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair work. Do not fall for rip-offs that use totally free service or “donated or used” devices.
Agreements. You ought to not have to participate in a long-lasting contract. You ought to only need to pay continuous month-to-month fees, which must range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Take care about spending for service ahead of time, since you never ever know when you’ll need to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or permanently.
Guarantee and cancellation policies. Search for a full money-back assurance, or at least a trial duration, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll desire the capability to cancel at any time with no charges (and a full refund if month-to-month charges have already been paid).
Discounts. Ask about discount rates for multiple individuals in the same household, in addition to for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance or through a health center, medical or care organization. Ask if the business uses any discount rates options or a moving fee scale for individuals with lower earnings.
For the many part, Medicare and private insurance coverage businesses will not cover the costs of a medical alert. You can check with your personal insurance coverage company to see if it uses discount rates or recommendations.
Tax deductions. Consult your tax professional to discover if the expense of a medical alert is tax deductible as a medically necessary cost.

New Caney, Texas
New Caney is an Unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Texas, United States within the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. As of 2010, the population of the New Caney area is 19,987.[1]
New Caney was established in 1862 under the name Presswood, named for pioneers Austin and Sarah Waters Presswood.[2] Captain John Robertson and other settlers followed, and cattle ranches, mills, and stores were opened along Caney Creek.[3] In 1877, the town received a railroad from the East and West Texas Railway, and Caney Station became a shipping point for imports and exports, bringing more business to the area.[2] In 1882, Presswood received its first post office, registered under the name New Caney, as the name Caney already was in use by another Texas town.[2] This development led to the name of Presswood falling out of use, as New Caney became the preferred term.
In 1884, the population of New Caney was sixty people.[2] By 1892, it had grown to 150 residents and was able to support several general stores.[2] Throughout the 20th century, the community continued to expand.
