Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were designed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Lots of companies now also use the alternative of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who may not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button enables you to talk to a dispatcher through a base unit located in your home.

Many companies provide mobile alternatives, too. You can use these systems in the house, but they’ll also enable you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and integrate GPS technology. This way, if you get lost or push the call button for aid, however are not able to talk, the tracking service can locate you.

  • Should You Include a Fall-Detection Function?

Some businesses offer the option of automated fall detection, for an additional month-to-month fee. Manufacturers say these devices notice falls when they occur and immediately contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pressed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?

Look for a business with no additional costs related to devices, shipping, setup, activation, or service and repair. Do not fall for rip-offs that provide totally free service or “donated or used” devices.
You must only have to pay continuous month-to-month charges, which must range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service in advance, given that you never ever know when you’ll need to stop the service briefly (due to a hospitalization, for circumstances) or completely.
Assurance and cancellation policies. Try to find a full money-back warranty, or a minimum of a trial duration, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll want the ability to cancel at any time without any charges (and a full refund if month-to-month fees have currently been paid).
Discounts. Inquire about discount rates for several individuals in the same household, as well as for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance or via a health center, medical or care organization. Ask if the company provides any discount alternatives or a sliding fee scale for individuals with lower earnings.
Insurance coverage. For the a lot of part, Medicare and private insurance provider will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. In some States, Medicaid may cover all or part of the cost. You can check with your personal insurance company to see if it uses discounts or recommendations.
Tax reductions. Consult your tax expert to discover if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically essential expenditure.

Flower Mound is an incorporated town[Note 1] located in Denton and Tarrant counties in the U.S. state of Texas.[4][5] Located northwest of Dallas and northeast of Fort Worth adjacent to Grapevine Lake, the town derives its name from a prominent 12.5-acre (5.1 ha) mound located in the center of town.

After settlers used the site for religious camps during the 1840s, the area around Flower Mound was first permanently inhabited in the 1850s; however, residents did not incorporate until 1961. Although an effort to create a planned community failed in the early 1970s, Flower Mound's population increased substantially when Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport opened to the south in 1974. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 75,956, reflecting a 17% increase over the 64,669 counted in the 2010 census.[6] Of the Texas municipalities that label themselves "towns", Flower Mound has the largest population. Flower Mound was the only town with a population greater than 20,000 in the 2020 census.
