Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were developed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Numerous businesses now also use the option of home-based systems that work over a mobile network, for those who may not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button enables you to speak with a dispatcher through a base system located in your home.

Numerous companies use mobile options, too. You can use these systems at home, but they’ll also permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and include GPS technology. In this manner, if you get lost or press the call button for help, but are unable to talk, the monitoring service can find you.

  • Should You Add a Fall-Detection Feature?

Some companies use the choice of automated fall detection, for an extra regular monthly cost. Producers state these gadgets pick up falls when they occur and instantly contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had actually pushed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?

Look for a company with no additional fees related to devices, shipping, setup, activation, or service and repair. Do not fall for rip-offs that provide complimentary service or “donated or used” equipment.
You ought to just have to pay continuous monthly costs, which ought to vary between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service in advance, since you never ever know when you’ll require to stop the service briefly (due to a hospitalization, for circumstances) or permanently.
Warranty and cancellation policies. Try to find a complete money-back guarantee, or a minimum of a trial period, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll desire the capability to cancel at any time with no charges (and a complete refund if monthly fees have already been paid).
Discounts. Inquire about discount rates for multiple people in the exact same household, as well as for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance coverage or through a hospital, medical or care company. Ask if the company offers any discount choices or a sliding cost scale for individuals with lower earnings.
For the many part, Medicare and personal insurance companies will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. You can examine with your private insurance coverage business to see if it uses discount rates or referrals.
Tax reductions. Consult your tax expert to find out if the expense of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically required expenditure.

Salt Flat is a ghost town in northeastern Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. It lies along the concurrent U.S. Routes 62 and 180, north of the Census-designated place (CDP) of Sierra Blanca, the county seat of Hudspeth County.[1] Its elevation is 3,730 feet (1,137 m).[2] Although Salt Flat is unincorporated, it has a ZIP Code of 79847.[3] The headquarters of the nearby Guadalupe Mountains National Park uses this ZIP Code, although it is located closer to Pine Springs, which has no post office.

Just outside the community, there is a dry salt pan called Salt Flat Playa or Salt Basin. It straddles the New Mexico-Texas border and is approximately 150 miles long, and five to 15 miles wide, making it one of the largest gypsum playas in the United States. The playa occupies the north-south oriented Salt Basin Grabben, which lies between the Guadalupe and Delaware Mountains on the east and the Sierra Diablo and Diablo Plateau on the west. The playa was originally a lake during the late Pleistocene epoch, but drying of the climate since then has left a salt pan.[4] Today, a briny water table is about three feet below the surface. Capillary evaporation in the dry, hot weather pulls brine upwards and evaporite (gypsum, halite) and carbonate (calcite, dolomite) minerals precipitate.[4]Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) grow on the surface and immediately below the surface when the playa is wet. Alternating light and dark bands are either gypsum-rich (light) or dolomite-rich (dark)[5] When the playa is dry during the summer, winds blow the gypsum into sand dunes.
