Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ
-
- Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?
Initially, medical alert systems were designed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.
And you can still go that route. Numerous companies now also provide the option of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who may not have a landline.
With these systems, pushing the wearable call button permits you to speak to a dispatcher through a base unit situated in your house.
Many companies use mobile alternatives, too. You can utilize these systems in your home, but they’ll also allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.
These run over cellular networks and include GPS technology. In this manner, if you get lost or push the call button for help, but are not able to talk, the tracking service can locate you.
Some businesses use the choice of automated fall detection, for an extra regular monthly charge. Manufacturers state these devices pick up falls when they happen and immediately call the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pressed the call button.
Look for a company with no extra fees related to equipment, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair. Do not fall for scams that provide totally free service or “donated or utilized” equipment.
Contracts. You must not have to enter into a long-lasting contract. You should just need to pay ongoing monthly costs, which need to vary in between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Take care about spending for service in advance, considering that you never ever understand when you’ll need to stop the service momentarily (due to a hospitalization, for example) or permanently.
Warranty and cancellation policies. Look for a full money-back warranty, or at least a trial period, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll want the ability to cancel at any time with no penalties (and a complete refund if regular monthly costs have already been paid).
Discount rates. Inquire about discount rates for multiple people in the same household, in addition to for veterans, membership companies, medical insurance coverage or by means of a health center, medical or care organization. Ask if the business offers any discount rates choices or a moving charge scale for people with lower earnings.
For the a lot of part, Medicare and private insurance companies will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. You can examine with your personal insurance business to see if it uses discounts or recommendations.
Tax reductions. Contact your tax professional to discover if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically needed expenditure.

Floydada, Texas
Floydada (/flɔɪˈdeɪdə/ floy-DAY-də) is a city in and the county seat of Floyd County, Texas, United States.[2] This rural community lies on the high plains of the Llano Estacado in West Texas and is sometimes referred to as the Pumpkin Capital of Texas.[3] The population was 3,038 at the 2010 census,[4] down from 3,676 at the 2000 census.
According to the Texas State Historical Association, the community of Floydada was originally named "Floyd City".[5] It was established in 1890 on 640 acres (260 ha) of land donated by James B. and Caroline Price of Jefferson City, Missouri. Floydada won the election as county seat over Della Plain. When a post office opened, the name was changed to "Floydada". The meaning of the name is disputed. Some claim it was meant to be "Floydalia" but was garbled in transmission to the U.S. Postal Service, while others insist it is a combination of the county's name and that of James Price's mother, Ada. A third view is that it was formed from Caroline Price's parents, Floyd and Ada.
Floydada became an important railroad junction in 1928, when the Quanah, Acme and Pacific Railway reached the town.[5]
