Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were designed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Many companies now also offer the option of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button allows you to speak to a dispatcher through a base unit situated in your home.

However, numerous businesses use mobile choices, too. You can use these systems in your home, but they’ll also allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and integrate GPS technology. In this manner, if you get lost or push the call button for aid, but are unable to talk, the tracking service can find you.

  • Should You Include a Fall-Detection Feature?

Some companies offer the alternative of automated fall detection, for an extra month-to-month fee. Makers say these gadgets notice falls when they take place and instantly get in touch with the dispatch center, simply as they would if you had pushed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?

Look for a company with no additional charges related to devices, shipping, setup, activation, or service and repair work. Do not fall for rip-offs that provide totally free service or “donated or used” devices.
You ought to just have to pay ongoing month-to-month charges, which need to vary between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service in advance, given that you never know when you’ll need to stop the service momentarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or completely.
Assurance and cancellation policies. Try to find a full money-back assurance, or at least a trial duration, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll want the capability to cancel at any time with no penalties (and a complete refund if regular monthly fees have currently been paid).
Discount rates. Ask about discounts for several people in the very same family, as well as for veterans, subscription companies, medical insurance coverage or through a hospital, medical or care organization. Ask if the company provides any discount rates alternatives or a moving cost scale for people with lower earnings.
Insurance. For the most part, Medicare and personal insurer will not cover the costs of a medical alert. In some States, Medicaid may cover all or part of the expense. You can talk to your private insurance provider to see if it offers discount rates or recommendations.
Tax reductions. Talk to your tax expert to discover if the expense of a medical alert is tax deductible as a medically needed expenditure.

Liberty Hill is a city in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,646 at the 2020 census.[3] Liberty Hill is part of the Greater Austin metropolitan area.

The first settlers arrived in the 1840s. A post office was opened three miles west of the present townsite in 1853 and its first postmaster suggested for the place the name Liberty Hill. Subsequently, the town moved eastward twice.[6] In 1871, a building of hand-cut limestone was erected by S.P. Stubblefield at the corner of Main and Myrtle. He operated the property as a general store until 1881. This structure, today known as the Stubblefield Visitors Center, is perhaps the oldest still standing in Liberty Hill.[7][8]
