Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were created to work inside your house, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Numerous companies now also provide the alternative of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button permits you to talk to a dispatcher through a base unit situated in your home.

Many businesses provide mobile options, too. You can use these systems at home, but they’ll also permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and incorporate GPS technology. By doing this, if you get lost or press the call button for assistance, but are not able to talk, the monitoring service can locate you.

  • Should You Include a Fall-Detection Feature?

Some companies offer the alternative of automated fall detection, for an additional regular monthly cost. Makers say these devices sense falls when they happen and immediately contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had actually pushed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?

Look for a company with no additional costs related to devices, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair. Do not fall for frauds that offer complimentary service or “donated or utilized” devices.
Contracts. You need to not have to enter into a long-lasting contract. You ought to just need to pay continuous regular monthly fees, which should range in between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service ahead of time, given that you never understand when you’ll need to stop the service briefly (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or completely.
Guarantee and cancellation policies. Try to find a complete money-back warranty, or a minimum of a trial period, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll desire the capability to cancel at any time without any charges (and a complete refund if month-to-month charges have already been paid).
Discounts. Ask about discount rates for numerous individuals in the exact same household, as well as for veterans, membership companies, medical insurance coverage or via a healthcare facility, medical or care organization. Ask if the company uses any discount alternatives or a moving charge scale for people with lower incomes.
For the many part, Medicare and personal insurance companies will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. You can examine with your personal insurance business to see if it uses discount rates or recommendations.
Tax reductions. Talk to your tax professional to find out if the expense of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically essential cost.

New Caney is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Texas, United States, located within the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area. As of 2010, the population of the New Caney area is 19,987.[1] New Caney had an estimated population in 2016 of roughly 22,000.[2]

New Caney was established in 1862 under the name Presswood, named for pioneers Austin and Sarah Waters Presswood.[3] Captain John Robertson and other settlers followed, and cattle ranches, mills, and stores were opened along Caney Creek.[4] In 1877, the town received a railroad from the East and West Texas Railway, and Caney Station became a shipping point for imports and exports, bringing more business to the area.[3] In 1882, Presswood received its first post office, registered under the name New Caney, as the name Caney already was in use by another Texas town.[3] This development led to the name of Presswood falling out of use, as New Caney became the preferred term.
