Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were created to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Many companies now also offer the alternative of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button allows you to talk to a dispatcher through a base system situated in your house.

But, many companies offer mobile choices, too. You can utilize these systems at home, but they’ll also permit you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and include GPS technology. In this manner, if you get lost or press the call button for help, but are unable to talk, the monitoring service can locate you.

  • Should You Include a Fall-Detection Function?

Some businesses offer the alternative of automated fall detection, for an extra monthly cost. Makers state these gadgets notice falls when they happen and automatically call the dispatch center, just as they would if you had actually pushed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?

Warranty and cancellation policies. Search for a complete money-back warranty, or at least a trial duration, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll desire the ability to cancel at any time with no charges (and a complete refund if regular monthly fees have actually currently been paid).
Discount rates. Ask about discount rates for several individuals in the exact same family, as well as for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance or through a hospital, medical or care company. Ask if the company offers any discount rates choices or a sliding charge scale for people with lower incomes.
For the a lot of part, Medicare and private insurance businesses will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. You can examine with your personal insurance coverage business to see if it provides discount rates or referrals.
