Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were developed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Lots of companies now also offer the choice of home-based systems that work over a mobile network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button allows you to speak to a dispatcher through a base system situated in your house.

Lots of companies use mobile options, too. You can use these systems in the house, however they’ll also enable you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and integrate GPS technology. In this manner, if you get lost or press the call button for aid, however are not able to talk, the monitoring service can find you.

  • Should You Include a Fall-Detection Function?

Some companies provide the option of automatic fall detection, for an extra month-to-month fee. Makers state these devices notice falls when they happen and instantly get in touch with the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pushed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?

Look for a company with no additional charges related to devices, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair. Do not fall for rip-offs that use complimentary service or “donated or utilized” equipment.
You must just have to pay ongoing month-to-month costs, which must range in between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service in advance, because you never understand when you’ll need to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or completely.
Guarantee and cancellation policies. Search for a complete money-back assurance, or a minimum of a trial period, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll want the ability to cancel at any time with no charges (and a complete refund if monthly fees have already been paid).
Discount rates. Ask about discount rates for several people in the same household, in addition to for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance or by means of a hospital, medical or care organization. Ask if the business uses any discount alternatives or a sliding fee scale for individuals with lower earnings.
For the most part, Medicare and personal insurance businesses will not cover the costs of a medical alert. You can examine with your personal insurance company to see if it uses discount rates or referrals.
Tax deductions. Consult your tax professional to learn if the expense of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically needed cost.

Sachse (/ˈsæksi/ SAK-see) is a city in Collin and Dallas counties in the U.S. state of Texas and is part of the DFW metroplex. A northeastern suburb of Dallas, the city population was 27,103, as of the 2020 census with an estimated population of 33,768[4] people today.[5] Sachse is located off Texas State Highway 78 and President George Bush Turnpike (Texas State Highway 190) and is approximately 1 mile (1.6 km) north of the Firewheel Town Center.

Sachse was founded by William Sachse, a European immigrant from Herford, Prussia (modern-day North Rhine-Westphalia), in 1845. Purchasing 640 acres (2.6 km2) from Collin County, Sachse erected the first cotton mills and gins in the county. After Sachse gave 100 feet of frontage through all of his holdings to the railroad in 1886, the railroad built a depot on the frontage and named the town Sachse. Since the depot was labeled 'Saxie', many old legal documents referred to the city as 'Saxie'. The flaw was later corrected. The word Sachse comes from the German word for Saxon.[6]
