Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were created to work inside your house, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Lots of businesses now also use the alternative of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who may not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button allows you to speak with a dispatcher through a base system located in your house.

Numerous companies offer mobile choices, too. You can use these systems at home, however they’ll also enable you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and integrate GPS technology. This way, if you get lost or press the call button for help, but are unable to talk, the tracking service can find you.

  • Should You Add a Fall-Detection Function?

Some businesses use the alternative of automatic fall detection, for an extra regular monthly fee. Makers state these devices sense falls when they occur and automatically call the dispatch center, just as they would if you had actually pushed the call button.

  • Whats the Expense?

Look for a company with no additional costs related to devices, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair. Do not fall for rip-offs that offer totally free service or “donated or used” equipment.
Agreements. You ought to not need to participate in a long-lasting agreement. You need to only need to pay ongoing monthly charges, which should range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Beware about spending for service in advance, because you never know when you’ll have to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for example) or permanently.
Warranty and cancellation policies. Search for a full money-back assurance, or at least a trial period, in case you are not satisfied with the service. And you’ll desire the capability to cancel at any time with no penalties (and a complete refund if regular monthly costs have actually already been paid).
Discount rates. Ask about discount rates for multiple people in the exact same home, in addition to for veterans, membership organizations, medical insurance coverage or through a hospital, medical or care organization. Ask if the business provides any discount rates choices or a sliding fee scale for people with lower incomes.
For the many part, Medicare and personal insurance businesses will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. You can inspect with your personal insurance coverage business to see if it provides discount rates or referrals.
Tax deductions. Contact your tax expert to find out if the expense of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically needed expense.

Schwertner is an unincorporated community in Williamson County, Texas, United States. It is approximately 28 miles north-northeast of Round Rock.[1] Schwertner has a post office, with the ZIP code 76573.[2]

Starting in 1909, Schwertner was along the tracks of the Bartlett-Florence Railway, later the Bartlett Western Railroad, which ran from a connection at Bartlett, Texas with the Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad to Florence, Texas, a significant cotton-processing center.[3][4] The railroad gave Apostolic names to its stops, and the station for Schwertner was known as St. Matthew.[5] However, that line was abandoned in 1935.[6]
