Early is a city located in Brown County in west-central Texas, in the United States. The population was 2,762 at the 2010 census.[3] It is named for Walter U. Early, who donated land for the schools. It is home to the Early Independent School District and the Heartland Mall.

As of the census[1] of 2000, 2,588 people, 980 households, and 752 families resided in the city. The population density was 1,008.2 people per square mile (388.8/km²). There were 1,080 housing units at an average density of 420.7/sq mi (162.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 94.17% White, 1.00% African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.58% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 3.25% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races.
