Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were created to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Numerous businesses now also use the option of home-based systems that work over a mobile network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button allows you to speak to a dispatcher through a base unit located in your home.

Many companies use mobile options, too. You can utilize these systems in the house, however they’ll also enable you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and include GPS technology. This way, if you get lost or push the call button for aid, but are unable to talk, the monitoring service can find you.

  • Should You Add a Fall-Detection Function?
  • Some companies offer the alternative of automatic fall detection, for an extra regular monthly cost. Makers state these devices pick up falls when they occur and automatically get in touch with the dispatch center, simply as they would if you had pressed the call button.

  • Whats the Expense?
  • Look for a company with no extra fees related to equipment, shipping, setup, activation, or service and repair work. Don’t fall for frauds that offer complimentary service or “donated or used” devices.
You must just have to pay continuous month-to-month fees, which need to range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be cautious about paying for service in advance, because you never know when you’ll require to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for circumstances) or permanently.
Guarantee and cancellation policies. Try to find a full money-back guarantee, or at least a trial duration, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll want the capability to cancel at any time with no penalties (and a complete refund if month-to-month fees have currently been paid).
Discounts. Inquire about discount rates for numerous people in the same home, in addition to for veterans, membership companies, medical insurance coverage or by means of a health center, medical or care company. Ask if the company provides any discount rates choices or a sliding fee scale for individuals with lower earnings.
Insurance coverage. For the many part, Medicare and personal insurance provider will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. In some States, Medicaid may cover all or part of the expense. You can check with your private insurance company to see if it uses discounts or referrals.
Tax deductions. Check with your tax expert to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically required expense.

Port Aransas (/əˈrænzɪs/ ə-RAN-ziss[3]) is a city in Nueces County, Texas. This city is 180 miles southeast of San Antonio. The population was 3,480 at the 2010 census. Port Aransas is the only established town on Mustang Island. It is located north of Padre Island and is one of the longest barrier islands along the Texas coast. Corpus Christi Bay, the Gulf of Mexico, the Lydia Ann Ship Channel and the Corpus Christi Ship Channel make up the surrounding waters.

Karankawa Indians played a key role in the early development of the Texas Gulf Coast.[4] The Karankawa Indians inhabited the Gulf Coast of Texas from Galveston Bay all the way to Corpus Christi Bay. The Karankawa Indians led a nomadic existence, migrating from the mainland to the coast. One of the places they lived in on the coast was a small fishing village known as "Sand Point" on what Europeans called "Wild Horse Island", later known as "Mustang Island".

They were living that nomadic existence when Spaniards, led by Alonso Álvarez de Pineda, probed the coast in 1519. Governor Francisco de Garay of Jamaica had commissioned him to explore the Gulf Coast from Florida to Vera Cruz. In the summer of 1519, Piñeda, took a fleet of four ships east to west around the Gulf Coast exploring and mapping five passes along the Texas Coast line, including what is known today as Aransas Pass.
