Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

And you can still go that route. Many companies now also provide the alternative of home-based systems that work over a cellular network, for those who might not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button permits you to speak with a dispatcher through a base unit situated in your house.

Numerous companies use mobile options, too. You can utilize these systems in your home, but they’ll also allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and include GPS technology. By doing this, if you get lost or press the call button for help, but are unable to talk, the tracking service can find you.

    • Should You Add a Fall-Detection Feature?

Some companies offer the alternative of automated fall detection, for an extra month-to-month cost. Producers state these devices sense falls when they happen and automatically contact the dispatch center, just as they would if you had actually pressed the call button.

    • Whats the Cost?

Look for a business with no additional costs related to equipment, shipping, installation, activation, or service and repair. Don’t fall for frauds that offer complimentary service or “donated or used” devices.
You should just have to pay ongoing regular monthly costs, which must range in between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be careful about paying for service in advance, considering that you never understand when you’ll need to stop the service temporarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or permanently.
Warranty and cancellation policies. Look for a complete money-back guarantee, or at least a trial duration, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll desire the capability to cancel at any time with no penalties (and a full refund if month-to-month charges have already been paid).
Discount rates. Inquire about discount rates for multiple individuals in the exact same family, in addition to for veterans, membership companies, medical insurance or via a medical facility, medical or care company. Ask if the business offers any discount rates alternatives or a sliding fee scale for individuals with lower earnings.
Insurance. For the many part, Medicare and personal insurance provider will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. In some States, Medicaid may cover all or part of the expense. You can consult your personal insurance provider to see if it provides discount rates or recommendations.
Tax deductions. Talk to your tax expert to discover if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically needed expense.

The last legal execution in Limestone County occurred on April 12, 1895, when Richard Burleson, who had been convicted of murdering James Garrett McKinnon, was hanged in front of the courthouse in Groesbeck.[6]
