Discount rates. Ask about discount rates for several people in the exact same household, along with for veterans, subscription organizations, medical insurance or via a medical facility, medical or care organization. Ask if the business uses any discount alternatives or a moving fee scale for people with lower incomes.

Harker Heights is a city in Bell County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census, 33,097 people resided in the city,[4] up from a population of 17,308 in 2000. This makes Harker Heights the third-largest city in Bell County, after Killeen and Temple. Incorporated in 1960, the city derives its name from one of the two original landowners and founder, Harley Kern. Harker Heights is part of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood metropolitan area. People usually refer to the town as just "Heights".

Harker Heights is located near Fort Cavazos, a major United States Army post that was designated a permanent military facility in 1950. As the post expanded, the surrounding civilian population increased. Water Control and Improvement District No. 4 was established on land near the Killeen city limits and the military post in 1955, and included the land owned by Pinckney R. Cox and Harley Kern, two hog farmers. These two men subdivided their land in 1957 and began selling lots. By 1960, between 600 and 700 of the lots had been developed and new residents supplied with water and other utility services. Following a petition for an incorporation election, the city was established on September 24, 1960, and Cox was elected mayor. Kern had died before the incorporation, and the Harker in Harker Heights was a concatenation of Harley Kern's name as a tribute to one of the original landowners. The town's boundaries expanded to include Forest Hills, Highland Oaks, and Comanche Hills. Cox, Sam Garth Jr., and Barney Sissom created GIASISCO Corporation, which was meant to help expand the town from 400 to 950 acres (160 to 380 ha).[5]

Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

      1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Initially, medical alert systems were designed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Numerous businesses now also offer the alternative of home-based systems that work over a mobile network, for those who may not have a landline.

With these systems, pushing the wearable call button allows you to speak to a dispatcher through a base unit located in your home.

Numerous companies use mobile alternatives, too. You can use these systems at home, but they’ll also allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These run over cellular networks and incorporate GPS technology. This way, if you get lost or push the call button for help, but are not able to talk, the monitoring service can find you.

    • Should You Include a Fall-Detection Feature?

Some businesses offer the option of automatic fall detection, for an extra regular monthly fee. Makers say these gadgets pick up falls when they occur and immediately call the dispatch center, simply as they would if you had pushed the call button.

    • Whats the Expense?

Look for a company with no additional costs related to devices, shipping, setup, activation, or service and repair work. Do not fall for scams that offer complimentary service or “donated or utilized” equipment.
You should only have to pay ongoing month-to-month costs, which must vary in between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be cautious about paying for service in advance, given that you never ever understand when you’ll require to stop the service momentarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or permanently.
Guarantee and cancellation policies. Search for a full money-back guarantee, or a minimum of a trial duration, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll desire the ability to cancel at any time without any penalties (and a complete refund if month-to-month fees have already been paid).
Discount rates. Ask about discounts for numerous people in the same family, as well as for veterans, subscription organizations, medical insurance or through a healthcare facility, medical or care company. Ask if the business uses any discount options or a sliding charge scale for individuals with lower incomes.
Insurance coverage. For the most part, Medicare and personal insurance companies will not cover the costs of a medical alert. In some States, Medicaid may cover all or part of the cost. You can check with your personal insurance company to see if it provides discount rates or recommendations.
Tax reductions. Contact your tax accountant to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a medically needed expense.
