Senior Alert Systems and Medical Alert Devices FAQ

    1. Do You want a Home-Based or Mobile System?

Originally, medical alert systems were developed to work inside your home, with your landline telephone.

And you can still go that route. Lots of businesses now also provide the choice of home-based systems that work over a mobile network, for those who may not have a landline.

With these systems, pressing the wearable call button enables you to speak to a dispatcher through a base unit situated in your house.

However, many companies offer mobile choices, too. You can utilize these systems at home, however they’ll also allow you to call for help while you’re out and about.

These operate over cellular networks and incorporate GPS technology. In this manner, if you get lost or push the call button for help, but are unable to talk, the tracking service can find you.

  • Should You Add a Fall-Detection Function?

Some businesses use the choice of automatic fall detection, for an additional regular monthly cost. Manufacturers state these devices sense falls when they happen and automatically call the dispatch center, just as they would if you had pressed the call button.

  • Whats the Cost?

Fees. Beware of complicated price plans and hidden charges. Look for a company with no extra charges associated with devices, shipping, setup, activation, or service and repair work. Don’t fall for rip-offs that offer complimentary service or “donated or used” equipment.
You ought to just have to pay continuous monthly costs, which need to range between $25 and $45 a month (about $1 a day). Be cautious about paying for service in advance, since you never ever understand when you’ll need to stop the service momentarily (due to a hospitalization, for instance) or permanently.
Assurance and cancellation policies. Look for a full money-back assurance, or a minimum of a trial period, in case you are not pleased with the service. And you’ll want the ability to cancel at any time without any charges (and a complete refund if monthly fees have actually already been paid).
Discount rates. Inquire about discounts for numerous individuals in the same home, in addition to for veterans, subscription companies, medical insurance or through a medical facility, medical or care organization. Ask if the company provides any discount options or a moving charge scale for individuals with lower incomes.
For the most part, Medicare and personal insurance businesses will not cover the expenses of a medical alert. You can inspect with your private insurance coverage business to see if it offers discounts or referrals.
Tax deductions. Check with your tax accountant to find out if the cost of a medical alert is tax deductible as a clinically required expenditure.

Peaster is an unincorporated community in Parker County, Texas, United States, nine miles (14 km) northwest of Weatherford.

Settlement began in the 1870s when Georgia native H.H. Peaster bought 160 acres (65 ha) of land and built a house. The community that developed near the site of his home was originally called Freemont; in 1885 the name was changed to Peasterville. Throughout the 20th century, Peaster has served area farmers as a school and church community. During the mid-1920s the town's population grew to approximately 300, but this was soon followed by a steep decline after the Great Depression. From 1975 to 1990, Peaster had around 80 residents. Current estimates put the population at approximately 100.
